GILGIT: Heavy torrential rain and s
nowfall for the last three days have paralyzed routine life in Gilgit Baltistan.
People
are facing great difficulties to reach their respective destinations due to closure of roads.
The land sliding and avalanches have resulted i
n blockages of link roads and the Karakoram Highway (KKH) at several points and p
eople have been requested to avoid travelling on KKH for the next
24 hours due to avalanches at various places.
Gilgit Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA) spokesperson told media that due to heavy rain and s
nowfall, KKH had bee
n blocked at Lal Pari and Kohistan area but authorities were trying their best to reopen this busy road.
Meanwhile, two passengers were injured due to rock falling near Kohistan.
Electricity supply to many parts of Gilgit-Baltistan remained disrupted for the last
24 hours due to heavy rain and s
nowfall.
