SUKKUR: Preparations to celebrate 70th Independence Day of homeland by all quarters is in full swing all over five talukas of
Sukkur district.
A large number of roadside stalls selling national flags, buntings, badges, flashlights and decorative items have been set up in markets of
Sukkur, Rohri, Pano Akil and other areas.
The district governments, taluk
a councils, provincial departments, federal department as well as educational institutions of these cities have chalked out programmes to celebrate the day in a befitting manner.
Flag hoisting ceremony will be held at Jinnah Municipal Stadium
Sukkur. Holding of seminars, Independence Day walks and skits highlighting the Day will also be held at private and government schools.
Similarly photographic, painting, poetry and debate competitions have also been chalked out by Municipal Council and IBA
Sukkur.
Garrison Pano Akil will a
lso arrange programmes highlighting struggle of founder Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah nd sacrifices rendered by Muslims on migration from India.
Programmes highlighting sacrifices of security forces against terrorism are also included in the chalked out programmes.
Sukkur Police said a flag hoisting ceremony would be held at Police Head Quarter
Sukkur. The
Sukkur Police has also finalised arrangement for foolproof security on
August 14 and a special traffic plan has also been evolved for smooth flow of traffic.
Commissioner
Sukkur Abas Baloch has directed departments of education, health, WAPDA, police and Civil Defe
nce to perform special duties on the occasion. Moreover,
Sukkur Deputy Commissioner Rahim Bux will also hold a meeting to review arrangements on
August 14 in the district.
